The Santa Irini Retreat owners had a vision to create a place where you can breath, a space where time stands still. When they assigned us the project, from the very first discussions, from the very first photos of the spaces we just knew what creative path to take.
Logotype and visual identity
The island of Therassia is a place untouched by time that brings memories of your childhood, when things were simpler. It is an island with a rough beauty that lies right across Santorini, still untouched by its famous sister’s lights. That is exactly what we wanted to communicate through the visual identity and the brand voice of the Retreat. For the logotype we created a symbol of an empty hourglass that conveys the sense of relaxation, without the pressure of the passing time. Additionally, we created hand-drawn elements using charcoal to portray the roughness of the island’s terrain and used it throughout the visual identity. Finally we developed a unique brand voice that communicates that authentic feel of a place that has remained untouched through the centuries.
Stepping on the same principles, we proceeded to design the website. Our aim was to create a digital experience that would exude a feeling of serenity. That is why the website has a lot of room to breathe. The use of large but light typography establishes an information hierarchy and an easy flow of the content while the Retreat’s imagery helps the viewer to let his mind free and dream of being there to experience the freedom, the simplicity and the elegance that Santa Irini and Therassia so lavishly offer.
